Coaching helps clients when things are good, but they want things to be great. Coaching provides the opportunity for clients to receive support and assistance, without the stigma of therapy. In coaching, I partner with you and then I help hold you accountable for your action plan while on your journey. The premise and structure of coaching are very different than therapy. It is not appropriate for individuals with significant mental health issues, and it is not a substitute for therapy. For more information please visit my Coaching page.
Therapy is for those struggling with an issue significant enough to warrant a mental health diagnosis and treatment plan. Therapeutic goals are focused on reducing or eliminating the symptoms that are causing impairment in your life. For example, therapy for anxiety would be geared toward reduction in anxiety symptoms and improving functioning. For more information, please visit my Therapy page.
Consulting is a very brief process focused on gathering information or getting clarity on a specific issue or situation. Most consultations I provide are around transitions. For example: Helping a high school senior figure out the best college for them; or when blending families, or switching careers. For more information, please visit my Consulting page.
Services for individuals can include coaching, therapy or consulting, depending on your current circumstances and desired outcome. Although I may only have one person in the room, we will address your place in the many systems that impact your life (i.e. work, family and friends). For more information, please visit my Individuals page.
Couples work is some of the most challenging and rewarding work I do. Couple’s counseling focuses on significant issues in the relationship, (either between the couple or the couple as parents), whereas couple’s coaching provides tools for coupes that are not in distress – for example, pre-martial couples. Consulting with a couple often occurs around a life transition – For example: a new baby, blending families or a specific challenge with the in-laws and holidays. For more information, please visit my Couples page.
This is often the most flexible of all the structured services that I provide. For example, I have the opportunity to see several family members together and/or separate as needed to work towards the family’s identified goals. This can be better communication, or working through a transition such as divorce, a new baby or blending families. For more information, please visit my FAMILIES page.
